Guilherme Metzner Serra Parente, was born in Belem, Lisbon in December 1940. In the beggining of the 60’s he studied painting with master Roberto Araújo in the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes and frequented the engraving courses at the Sociedade Cooperativa de Gravadores Portugueses.
Between 1968 and 1970 he worked in the Slade School of Art in London having had a scholarship from the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. In 1975 he recieved the Malhoa prize and in 1989 the fine art prize from the Soc.Nacional de Belas Artes.
He has participated in several collective exhibitions. He has exhibited individually in Portugal as well as in Belgium, Germany, France, England, Japan and the United States of America.
He is found represented in several collections private and public.
