OPEN CALL Exhibition SÃO OU NÃO 2025

Galeria São Mamede is pleased to launch another call for new artists!
In 2025, we are preparing for the second showcase of emerging artists in the SÃO OU NÃO exhibition, which will take place in June 2025 in Galeria São Mamede's largest gallery room, located on Rua Maestro Pedro de Freitas Branco in Lisbon.


This Open Call is aimed at all artists who aspire to show their work and combine it with their peers in a group exhibition. With no limitations in terms of themes, techniques or size, the gallery seeks to include new names in its collection and promote emerging, contemporary and bold artists.


Galeria São Mamede has been present for 57 years in the history of Portuguese art and on the art market circuit in Lisbon and Porto. Over this long period, the gallery's rooms have been filled with painting and sculpture, where modern and contemporary cohabit in a valuable dialogue. The gallery's increasingly diverse collection is made up of renowned modernist artists, especially the Portuguese Surrealist group, and emerging names from the contemporary scene, currently featuring artists from every continent.


What information should be considered when applying?

- Artists up to the age of 35 (inclusive)

- Any nationality as long as they are resident in Portugal

- From all areas of artistic expression, with a special focus on painting, sculpture and photography

- Applications will only be accepted in digital format, which must include the application portfolio and other optional attachments.

- Application portfolio*:

- PDF format
- Maximum 10 A4 pages up to 15mb

- Applicants are free to organise and include content they consider relevant as long as they include the following mandatory elements:

* The portfolio must include:

  • Identification of the artist (name, address, contact, email and optional website and social media pages)
  • Select 3 works with caption included (photographs in jpg, caption with title, date, technique and dimensions)
  • Descriptive memoir (max. 1000 characters)
  • Biographical note (max. 500 characters)
