Madalena Pequito
Bio
Born in Lisbon, in 1996. Madalena studied Costumes and Scenography at the António Arroio Art School, graduated in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon and completed the MA Arts and Cultural Enterprise at the Central Saint Martins Faculty, in London.
Throughout her journey, she has always sought to integrate various projects and promote dialogue with other artists and actors in the field, highlighting the collective Vês.Três. Currently, works in her studio at Núcleo A70 together with other artists.
Her artistic work has an autobiographical and critical character. The artist uses writing as a research tool and addresses the barriers and challenges she encounters in life as a visual artist. She reflects on current issues such as gender equality, the refugee crisis, and questions the role of art and artists in contemporary society.
